Woulfe

My Woulfe family came from the parish of Athea, Co. Limerick, probably from the townland of Cratloe as I have been DNA-matched by Ancestry with members of a number of branches of Cratloe Woulfes. However, I have only managed to trace my Woulfe ancestry back with any certainty to my great-great-grandmother Mary Woulfe, born around 1820 in Athea. Mary married John Shanahan in 1840; they had nine children and lived in Kilbaha, Newtownsandes (now Moyvane), Co. Kerry. Based on my DNA connections, it appears Mary was descended from Maurice James Woulfe (c.1630-c.1700) of Athea, who may have been a 3rd-great-grandfather of hers. For information on Maurice James and his descendants, please click on descendant list or narrative report.

Unfortunately, we have no photographs of any member of the Woulfe family, but if you have any photo(s) you would like to contribute, I would be delighted to hear from you. Please email any pictures to HelensFamilyTrees@gmail.com. Many thanks in advance.
